| OAMA Affiliates | |||

| OAMA is a Regional Association
of WMA and as such is bound by WMA’s Constitution. This includes a provision that only regional organisations which are formally affiliated to WMA can be ‘recognised’ by the WMA Regional Associations. As a result, only WMA-affiliated organisations can be ‘members’ of OAMA, with voting rights etc. ‘Affiliation’ to WMA requires application and recognition by an organisation representing veteran athletics in the country/territory. This restriction of membership of the Oceania Associations does not prevent athletes from non-affiliated organisations/countries taking part in WMA and Oceania Championships. The present OAMA Constitution does not meet WMA requirements, as it allows affiliation by organisations which are not affiliated to WMA, and also requires payment of affiliation fees to OAMA to maintain voting rights. This requirement is not permitted by WMA and is not enforced. The OAMA Council is currently reviewing the membership/affiliation provisions of the Constitution, so that appropriate amendments to the Constitution can be considered.
