| OAMA Governance Documents |
OAVA’s
activities are governed by its Constitution and ByLaws. These may be amended if considered appropriate or necessary
at the two-yearly general meeting of Affiliates which is
held at each Oceania Regional Championship and is known as
the Assembly.
Administration is the responsibility of the Council elected
at each Assembly.
The Council is bound to act in terms of decisions made
at the Assembly, and to abide by the Constitution and ByLaws.
In carrying out its responsibilities, Council obviously
makes decisions on matters not covered by the Constitution
and ByLaws.
Decisions made by the Assembly and by Council are recorded
in the minutes of their meetings. However, with inevitable
changes in personnel, it is difficult for delegates, officers
and council members to maintain knowledge of decisions
made without constant reference to past minutes and other
documents.
Council has therefor adopted formal ‘Policy Statements’ on
issues which are not covered by the Constitution and ByLaws,
which enable consistent policies to be followed and enable
affiliates to be aware of Council policy.
These Policy Statements are reviewed regularly by Council,
and amended as considered necessary or in accordance with
decisions of the Assembly.
Current Policy Statements are set out in two sections:
- General policies
- Oceania Championship policies
